This has been sitting around for three months now but we've been busy with other things.

We used to do Senate rankings with Klout, but there were a few criticisms. We're working up a new combined Klout/Twitalyzer report that should take care of those concerns.

Our Congressional Klout report gets read but people are frustrated because it changes so slowly. We'd been playing with Twitalyzer off and on for a while. Last weekend StrandedWind got with katzpdx and now we have some fun, interactive stuff that is in testing.

If you are active on Twitter and if we got your name off Radlein's list of Kossacks and if you or someone else has checked you out with Twitalyzer in recent history and if someone cares enough to retweet you, well, then you're on our list of cool kids.

And if not you have #FAIL. And no one to blame but yourself, because Twitalyzer basic accounts are free and Progressives are always talking on Twitter, even at 2:30 AM on a Wednesday.

Last week we declared that this report was going to change, retaining the @Klout rating, but that there would be new sources of information.

Since that declaration several interesting things have happened, so we're presenting the original report, some new data, and new information on our direction in this area.

This is the final diary in this format. We've been working with Twitalyzer off and on for a while, they've completed integration with Klout, and starting next week things will look a bit different.

We'll still have Klout as the primary indicator, but we'll be correlating it with Twitalyzer metrics. Klout changes slowly and has a long memory, while Twitalyzer is also resistant to being gamed but is based on a rolling week wide window rather than the activities for the whole life of the account.

We believe this upgrade will address the concerns expressed regarding less than fresh follower counts while allowing us to maintain continuity in terms of ranking method.

The conservatives OWN Twitter. They use it for political purposes. The shortener bit.ly is the premier means of taking unwieldly URLS and turning them into tweet friendly size chunks.

The definition of oneself in a positive light and one's opponent in the negative is the very heart and soul of running a political campaign. If the conservatives truly own Twitter they'll have applied this most common tool to this most common political problem, right?

The Union of Unemployed's 21 point plan to revitalize America is done and now the hard work of gaining broad public support for it begins.

"Now that the Hire US, America plan is finalized, the next step is to secure its endorsement by state and federal candidates for office," said UCubed Acting Executive Director Rick Sloan. "UCubed leaders and jobs activists will be visiting campaign headquarters this summer and asking them to support the Hire US, America plan."

This came out in PDF form, so I've cleaned it up and presented it as text here. What can we do to make this happen?

We took last week off from ratings due to a variety of issues in the fast moving social media world, mostly programming changes we needed to make in some of our production stuff due to Twitter's changing authorization rules. We also got a bit distracted by all the cool new stuff in the SalsaMarket. We already have an internal Salsa training program and we've asked some of these vendors for demonstration accounts to use with our test Senate campaign site.

We encourage those who do not yet have a Klout account to sign up and have a look at the detailed account analysis, which has changed much in the last few weeks.
